The fortification enclosure that surrounds it is a souvenir of its strategic position in the Alps, designed by the strategist Vauban. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is a true setting for the citadel of Briançon. The city is connected by cable car to the Serre-Chevalier station, a real umbilical cord between the city center and the mountain.
